How to set up PriceSwitch to switch ON when price is below X

Created by Themo Support, Modified on Sat, 24 Aug at 2:02 PM by Themo Support

Themo PriceSwitch settings (Power ON, Consecutive max OFF, Price limit) can offer users flexibility to accommodate different heating scenarios. One of the most wanted scenario is to have set up a price limit and when electricity price is below that limit then the power will be switched ON. For example, if price drops below 2 cents/kWh then electricity is always on.

Important! When using PriceSwitch to control heating an external thermostat must be used to prevent overheating.

Controlling power based on price limit

A step-by-step guide

Step 1: Set the Spot Price limit

  • From the app navigate to Device > Settings > Spot price limit
  • Toggle on to enable the Spot price limit (default value 150)
  • Set the limit when the power should be turned on.
  • Save changes

Note! Currently the spot price limit can not be negative value or 0. The minimum value is 0.1 cents/kWh

Step 2: Set Power ON hours to 24h

With Power ON hours you can select how many hours per day the power will be switched ON. If the Power ON hours are set to 24h then Themo turns on the power every hour that is set below the price limit.

  • Navigate back to Device View to control Power ON hours
  • Scroll the slider to 24h

Note! Do not use Always On setting. Always ON setting will turn the relay on regardless of the set price limit.
